FIRST AND LAST - The two statuettes shown above offer comparisons in size between the present-day horse and its "first ancestor," known as Eohippus and only 11 inches high in the flesh. Both the statuettes were sculptured on the same scaled by Carlton W. Angell, University of Michigan museum artist.
