As Tyler walked toward us, his hands clenched into fists. Charlotte and I both turned toward each other, and shared a look of “RUN”. We instantly stood up, and ran for the door. Tyler followed. We raced through the halls like a wolf (Tyler) chasing down two deer (me and Charlotte). We ran and ran. Suddenly, a door in front of us swung open. We instantly stopped, startled by the door. We could hear Tyler creeping up from behind us. Though he wasn’t very good at it. It’s like a bear walking through piles of dry leaves. Not very sneaky. We turned around, to see Tyler slowly reaching over us with an evil grin. Like the wolf pouncing on the two deer in slow motion.

“Hey!” Someone suddenly shouted behind me. Charlotte, I, and even Tyler froze instantly. We slowly turned to the shout, and saw two angry teachers standing in front of the door. Suddenly, I realized this was no classroom door. This was the door to the staff lounge.

The dentist, Eduardo Valencia, loved treating everyone badly, especially his dog Max. One day an old man walked in with a toothache. “This tooth must be pulled out” Eduardo said with a grin, so the man laid down in the chair and Eduardo yanked the tooth out. “I can pay you with something much better than money” the man said handing over a small green melon. Eduardo went home angry. When he got home he decided to eat some melon. It was the sweetest melon Eduardo had ever tasted. That night he dreamed that he could stay home tomorrow. In the morning it came true. He concluded that the melon made your dreams come true so every night he said “Eduardo you are the richest man in the world” until he began dreaming it. So Eduardo took the last piece of melon and set it on a plate. When he turned around to get some water, Max, his dog, ate the melon. Eduardo was so angry that he went straight to bed. In the morning he and his dog switched bodies because of the dog’s dream. From that day on, he was the one being treated horrible.

In the crowded room I was completely alone. Now and then someone would stop in their footsteps to stare at me, but I tried not to look back. It would, I know, simultaneously give them immense satisfaction and make their stomachs squeeze in fear. I played with a plastic flower while I dreamed of space, twisted its pedals until they all came off. Someone was staring at me again, I could feel the heat of their mouths seeping through the glass, but this time it was different. I turned to look at my observer and was surprised to see a little girl with a jungle of red hair and freckles scattered across her face like constellations. She didn’t bang the glass as the older boys did, merely stood there in silence. Behind her, a crowd of girls laughed and stared at the red-head, but she didn’t seem to notice or care. She touched her fingers to the glass and waited. I drew closer, crawling on all fours. She didn’t seem to be the least bit frightened when we came face to face, human to alien; instead, a smile tugged at her lips when I pressed my hand against the glass.

    Don't miss your cue.
I chanted the mantra to myself in time to the beat of the music. 1 2 3 4, don’t miss your cue, 1 2 3 4.
It was opening night of the school’s musical, and the auditorium was packed. My first glimpse of the sea of students, kids, and parents alike was when the curtains rose for the opening number, and it took all my willpower to keep in character and not let the mischievous smirk slide off my face in favor of some ugly mix of shock, awe, and dread.
I had done well enough, but after that, I had run offstage and was not set to reappear until my solo song, which was approaching much more rapidly than I would have liked. 1 2 3 4, don't miss your cue.
Onstage, a girl was singing her heart out as the music got more intense and dramatic, signaling the number was coming to a close. I tried to take a slow, deep breath, but my chest tightened with nervousness.
I bit my lip and narrowed my eyes.
    Screw the nerves.

Run 2 3 4, 1 2-
    I posed.
    I smiled.
    And I sang.

"Everything will end up just fine." is what my mom said to me after we got home from my grandpas' funeral. I knew she was lying to me because my grandpa died of lung cancer and  I know whose fault it is. Its knowones fault because he isnt dead. He can't be dead I know for a fact that on Sunday when he is supposed to take me bowling I hear the jingle of his keys outside our house and a knock on the door. I'll open the door he'll hug me and slip a chocolate bar in my pocket while my mom pretends not to notice. We will go bowling and he'll drop me off back home and I'll hug him goodbye. I'll say to him "see you next Sunday Grandpa." And he will say the same to me.  And he'll keep coming to see me forever and ever. Because I won't let him die I won't let anyone die. Never again will anyone die because while I guard our house in case the grim reaper comes knocking I'll be there to protect anyone who he has come for and he will never get them. Never again.

My mother always told me that if anyone ever came to the house to find my father, to shut the door and run. So when a strange man wearing a trench coat rang the doorbell and asked if Mr. Dale Crawford was home, I shut the door, grabbed my little brother Tommy, a bag of supplies, and ran out the back door into the streets of London.

I flew through the narrow London streets, turning the corners every so often in case the man was following me. I passed the pub where my father spent most weekend afternoons, I passed my elementary school. I ran and ran and ran, my only thought was to keep Tommy safe. I ran until I hit a densely forested patch of land. I stopped and laid my now sleeping brother down on the soft, mossy ground, and sighed. I heard a branch crack behind me, and my heart stopped. I turned around, and there he was. The man in the trench coat. Dark brown hair, piercing blue eyes, pale skin. His thin lips turned up into a smile. My face paled as the man said,

“Little girl, where is your father?”

Your heart's rhythm falters to match the song's. Lyrics crawling right beneath your skin make you face this now. The singer’s voice echoes away, you don't know why you have to scream. Confusing what's real, the sound isn’t coming from your lungs. Moving one step closer to the edge, you remember hours spent singing along. Inside you realize, you have some clarity to see what the singer means.
Each band member has their own story to cover their faces - pushed aside by lies. Stories in the bone-rattling shouts coming from the speakers over your back have you realize, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. When you can't stop what you're hearing within, the walls close around you with too much pressure to take.
You’re playing it over and over again; this band can’t be outdone. Needing a whirlwind inside of your head, you turn on a live performance - breaking the habit.
Your eyes close, head bobbing with the backbeat as you're suffocating - about to break. There's nothing you can say as the singer takes a deep breath and a rocker’s scream escapes his mouth. The final masquerade; the shaking inside your ribcage - it gives you reason.

I feel my heart racing faster and faster. I jerk out of bed, my heart still pounding. Not again, not that dream. I feel it getting harder to breath. I slide my feet off the side of the bed. The only light is that of the sun creeping through the curtains cracks.

I leave my room as quiet as one can be. The house is as dark as the night sky. I stumble as I attempt to walk through the cold dark house. I feel the house getting colder and colder. I can not decide whether it is the cold stare of the darkness or did the temperature go down.

I find my way to the door which glows and glistens from the beams of sunlight. I slowly open it trying not to become blinded by the light. I step outside where the sun embraces me in its arms and the breeze glides my hair along with it. This is the life the one that we all want. Everyone has it they just do not realize it. Step outside forget your problems and just breath.

Deep impression

Jang was walking along High Street. Taking a turn on the left, he reached the City Square, which kept lots of his student memories. The memories of his ebullient age of 17, at which he met a girl falling for him. They knew each other by playing together in the beginning of City’s festival rehearsal. Though he knew the way she secretly expressed her feeling, through her peek, he ignored all. Till one day, he accidentally met her bright smile, his heart went up and down; however, she had no feeling with him anymore. And time passed. It has been a year since they graduated from high school, they came across in the City Square. Under the bright sunshine, he realized her smile, he remembered to the previous time. They looked at each other for a while.

-Long time no see. For the first time, I am initiative in love - Jang talked to the girl with a tender look.

She smiled cynically in reply.
