Eleven youths aged 8 to 13, canoed down the Huron River from Clear Lake Camp near Chelsea to the rapids at Delhi Park Friday. Charles Thomas, president of the Black Economic Development League (BEDL), says the youngsters were from low income families in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Superior Township. BEDL sponsored the outing.

Divers Find Man's Body in Huron River, September 1969

Sheriff's Department skin divers searching the Huron River near the Scio-Zeeb Rd. intersection in Scio Township this morning found the body of Marion Fields, 25, of Westland. Fields drowned last night after a boat in which he was fishing, along with two companions, sank. The companions, J.P. Jones, 32, and his brother Carl, 26, both of Westland, managed to swim to shore.
