ALMOST A BASKET: The expressions on these Tappan Junior High students' faces indicate that the girl in the center almost shot a basket. The basketball booth was one of many games in Tappan's benefit carnival last night at the school. The net (at right), stretching down to the contestant, was placed so the basketball would roll back to the "shooter" for a return try. Proceeds of the penny carnival and refreshment and bake sale will be used to help buy a movie camera and bleachers for the school. Many pupils and parents attending the party came from as far as Hamburg.

As school interest grew in the cooperative event, the committee realized it would have to be limited to Tappan people only. Perhaps some of the interest came from pre-war prizes for games and refreshments - nothing inside the building cost more than a nickel.
