Ground Broken For New Hotel: John C. Stegeman (right) turns the first shovel of dirt in the ground-breaking ceremony held yesterday for the Campus Inn Motor Hotel. Also on hand were Ann Arbor Mayor Wendell E. Hulcher (left) and various members of the community to watch the beginning of construction of the $4 million, 14-story hotel which will be erected at 605 E. Huron near the corner of S. State. The 215-room hotel is scheduled to be completed in May of 1968.

Campus Inn Motor Hotel Under Way: Footings and foundations are in place for the 14-story Campus Inn Motor Hotel being constructed at 605 E. Huron. In the left background is the First Baptist Church; at right is Staffan Funeral Home. The $4 million, 215-room hotel is scheduled for completion in May, 1968. Ground was broken for the project Feb. 10. John C. Stegeman is the developer of the hotel, King & Lewis of Detroit, the architects, and general contractor is R. E. Dailey & Co. Sheraton Motor Inn is going up three blocks west.
