REPORTER OUTFITTED FOR RIDE: Although News Reporter Dick Kerr enjoyed a jet ride and inspection of the 472nd Air Force Reserve squadron at Willow Run recently, he's convinced now that AF planes and pilots' uniforms are designed with very short, thin men in mind. Here, a heavy double parachute needs adjusting by Lt. Louis G. Marlow before the air ride.

The helmet not only is a safety precaution, but it also shuts out considerable engine noise while flying in a jet. The oxygen mask was unnecessary during the 30-minute flight at some 21,000 feet altitude.
