SHOWS MALE HUNTERS HOW: Deer-hunting, with the test it imposes on endurance and skill is usually considered a sport for men only but Mrs. Wanda Walker, 1142 Catherine St., disproved this theory last week when she invaded the wilds of Drummer island and shot the fine buck shown on the right in the above picture. To make her feat more unusual, Mrs. Walker shot the deer on the first day of the season, Nov. 13.

WASTED NO TIME: Alois Spring, 1540 Greenview Dr., and his son, Norman, have more than the usual reason for the proud glances which they are casting in the direction of the fine deer draped on the Spring automobile. Mr. Spring shot the three-point buck near Hillman, Mich. last Monday - the first day of the deer-hunting season.

Published In:
Ann Arbor News, October 22, 1948
Caption:
NO, IT ISN'T WAR PREPARATION; JUST DEER SEASON PLANNING: Anyone who thinks the approaching deer hunting season doesn't mean a speed-up for the gun smith need only look at this picture taken in the Wier Gun Shop on Washtenaw Rd. Edwin Wier is shown holding one of the many deer rifles he hopes to have ready for perfect action come mid-November. That rack of artillery behind him is just a small part of the total number of guns he's now working over.

Edwin & Raynard Wier - Wier's Gun Shop, June 1949
Year:
1949
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, June 10, 1949
Caption:
GUNS TO BE PROUD OF: Most hunters take considerable pride in their rifles and other weapons but the owners-to-be of these three deer rifles will have special reasons for pride in ownership of these especially-made 270s. Edwin W. Wier (left) and his son Raynard G. Wier, study the examples of their craftsmanship. The gun in the foreground is equipped with a rare Cutts compensator which reportedly increases accuracy and decreases the amount of recoil. Each of the rifles has been carefully polished and oiled.
