Following a "misfire," Pegi Nordby hesitantly makes another try at going through a new alarm-connected gate at Huron High School. The gate is designed to frustrate would-be book thieves. It is part of a system which includes a sensor-operated buzzer alarm, which is set off when someone tried to leave with a library book which has not been checked out. Librarian Fran Greenough watched as Pegi makes a second try at the gate following the false alarm.
