Turkeys for needy: University High School students (from left): Tom Bailey, Peggy Norder and John Eggertsen pose with six of the seven turkeys they delivered to a local service agency yesterday afternoon. The agency supplied a list of names of needy families for gifts of turkeys. U High students collected money in their homerooms to purchase the birds which were first presented at a school assembly.

MICHIGAN'S BEST - TURKEY, THAT IS: Winner of the grand championship (best hen) at last week's Fifth Annual Turkey Festival at Saginaw was an entry by Delbert W. Smith of South Lyon, for many years an Ann Arbor resident. To the winner, shown above with his winning entry, went a blue ribbon and the plaque, also pictured. This was the first time Smith, a former magazine publisher, had entered a bird in the annual festival. The picture was made at Steeb Bros. Market.
