Miss Iva Smith (left), receptionist at the International Center, helps newcomers Eisuke Sakakibara and his wife, Mihoko, register for foreign student activities. Eisuke will study economics at the U-M. This is the couple's first year at the University, but second year in the United States. They hail from Tokyo, Japan. Center volunteers will aid them in becoming acquainted with Ann Arbor.

Nearly 60 per cent of the foreign students attending the University are graduate or graduate-professional students, according to Mrs. Henry Meyer, administrative assistant at the center.
