Tom Wallace Delivers A Hard Right In The Golden Gloves Boxing Tourney, January 1937 Photographer: Eck Stanger

ANN ARBOR NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER CATCHES FIGHTER IN MID-AIR: Eck Stanger, Ann Arbor News cameraman, scored a photographic knockout last night in the local Golden Gloves. In the top picture, Stanger caught John Kowalon, Ypsilanti light heavy, as he was on his way to the canvas after catching a hard right administered by Tom Wallace of Ann Arbor. Kowalon has not yet hit the resin, but he's definitely on his way. Kowalon took the count of nine, weathered the storm and was still on his feet at the end of the third round, although losing the decision. Referee Ted Gries at the right apparently thinks that the blow was a hard one, judging from the rather pained expression on his face.
