OPEN TITLE DEFENSE: Edwards Brothers will open defense of their Girls' Softball league championship tomorrow night at Wines Field with Nelson Realty providing the opposition. The Edwards squad is shown above. Kneeling, left to right, are Ruth Carstens, Nadenna Schmidt, Helen Corman, Marjorie Rayment, Mildred Smith, Mary Pegan, Lucille Stierle and Helen Pegan. Standing are Manager Tommy Ingraham, Dorothy Pickard, Loretta Schlimmer, Evalyn Barnes, Esther Carstens, Grace Cooke, Doris Gibb, Ralph Fritz, and Ned Hickey. PLAY IN STATE TOURNAMENT TODAY: Edwards Brothers, who won the girls' city softball championship recently, will compete in the state tournament at Lansing today against the Remington Rand ten of Benton Harbor. If victorious today, Edwards will swing into action again Sunday afternoon at Ranney park against the survivor of games between three teams, Peter Pan of Lansing, Mutal Drugs of Niles, and Holt Recorders. The contest will start at 1 o'clock. Standing in the above picture, left to right, are Coach Tommy Ingram, Hazel Engels, Mildred Smith, Ruth Carstens, Lorreta Schlimmer, Esther Carstens, Evelyn Barnes, Helen Hickey, Helen Pegan and Coach Ned Hickey.
