Construction on a 499-car, five-level carport on S. Forest near S. University has progressed to the skeleton stage. The carport, scheduled to be completed this spring, is being built by Ann Arbor Parking, Inc., a subsidiary of Towne Realty, Inc. When it is completed it will be turned over to the city for operation in a contractual arrangement with the parking firm. The realty firm owns the 18-story apartment building visible in the background.

When completed, it will dwarf the Maynard House (left) and will be the tallest building in Michigan outside Detroit.
