Each afternoon at 4:30 Tucky, a semi-cocker spaniel, awaits the arrival of The Ann Arbor News carrier, Peter Staelens, 13, at the home of her mistress, Mrs. D. G. Quirk of 1370 Lathers Rd., on the western outskirts of Ypsilanti so that she herself, Tucky, can deliver The News to the front door. Peter, a student in the eighth grade at the Central school, has many papers to deliver so the daily assist from Tucky is highly appreciated. Peter lives near the Quirk home at 15 Warner Rd.

IT'S HIS DESSERT NOW: Two weeks ago "Puddle," this five-weeks old pet of Priscilla Osler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Osler of Glazier Rd., was a "bottle baby." Now he has to eat that nasty old grass along with the rest of his family, but he still enjoys tipping the bottle occasionally, especially when the bottle is held by his mistress. The News photographer caught this picture during the one moment when Puddle's tail was not revolving like a windmill.

Like her mailman master, Cal Foster of 401 Mark Hannah Place, Charlie - short for Tammi Charlie, not Charlotte or Charlene - thrives on daily mail deliveries. According to Mrs. Foster, the eight-year-old chihuahua grabs the mail as the postman puts it through the mail slot and delivers it to the Fosters. Occasionally, she has been known to grab the postman's glove along with the mail, but it's all in fun. Unlike her master, Charlie is very enthused about the large quantity of mail the Christmas season brings. It means lots of letters and a new red Santa suit.

WHEN THE DOGHOUSE IS PLEASANT: Even a dog's life can be a happy one. When Harry Smith, retired city detective, set about constructing a house for his cocker he pulled no punches. The completed mansion shown here has all the comforts of a dog's home with rain-and-windproof roof and siding, window ventilation and portability; it can be moved on casters.
