CHANGING SCENE: The demolition of several old lumber facilities near the Ann Arbor Railroad Co. tracks between E. Madison St. and S. Main St. is changing the familiar scene in this area of the city. Main St. is near the top in the photo and Madison St. is at the left. The facilities were at one time owned by the Wholesale Distributors Co., which sold out its business to the Fingerle Lumber Co. at 208 E. Madison St.

Most of the property on which the warehouse stood was acquired by the Fingerle Lumber Co. which plans to erect additional lumber storage sheds. This photograph shows William St. in the foreground and S. First St. in the background.

Work is moving along on the widening and resurfacing of W. Huron under State Highway Department contract. Shown here is a section of newly-laid curbing in the 400 block of W. Huron St. looking east toward the Ann Arbor Railroad grade crossing, the point at which the improvement program begins. The work will encompass all of W. Huron St. from that point west and will continue on Jackson Rd. to a point 300 feet beyond Glendale Ave.
