NEW EQUIPMENT - Scio Charter Township firefighters examine and polish the tanker and minipumper recently acquired for use beginning July 1, 1988, when the township fire department becomes fully operational. John Walton sits in the tanker truck while fire protection coordinator Wil Dane examines it. The tanker has a 1250 gallon capacity and can pump 450 gallons of water per minute. In the foreground, Duane Fuller polishes the minipumper which has a smaller 250 gallon capacity and can pump 250 gallons per minute. Both units were acquired at a combined cost of $145,000.

ALFALFA FIELD: Scio township soil is ideal for alfalfa growing. Alfalfa makes a good hay crop for almost all farm animals when mixed with other grasses. It is of value, too, as a soil improver. Wheat is another crop which grows in abundance in the township. This photograph was taken near Zeeb Rd.
