JAM SESSION -- 15TH CENTURY STYLE: Members of the Vielle Trio, playing instruments of Renaissance design, yesterday furnished melodic patterns for a medieval jam session in which they were joined by University student vocalists and instrumentalists. The vielles played by the trio have been described as the "grandparents" of the violin family, and are modern reproductions of ancient instruments, built by a famous Belgian violin-maker from original drawings and descriptions. Above, seated, are Franz Siedersbeck, alto vielle; Beatrice Cohme, alto vielle, and Werner Landshoff, contra-tenor vielle. Standing are Dr. Louise Cuyler, head of the University musicology department which sponsored he appearance of the trio, and Du Bose Robertson, tenor vocal accompanist, for the Vielle Trio.
