Aerial Photograph of Proposed Shopping Center Site, Ypsilanti Township, March 1958

Ann Arbor News, March 4, 1958

Proposed Shopping Center Site: The outlined area shown here has been proposed as the site of the million-dollar shopping center in western Ypsilanti township, but the Township Zoning Board last night voted against approving a permissive zoning change. The 4.77-acre site is bounded on the north by Washtenaw Rd.; Hewitt Rd. (bottom) on the west and Rosedale Ave. on the east. Plans call for a 17-store center with parking for 304 cars. Developers may appeal the zoning board's action or build low-cost houses.

Briarwood Mall Fountains, September, 1973

Fountains and flowers decorate the main court of the Briarwood shopping center. The court, which includes a rest area and geometric pool, is 163 feet long at its maximum point and 156 feet wide. The white, square-design blocks, which can be seen on sides of the court, blend with the decor. Eventually they will be removed, to be replaced with store fronts of specialty shops.
