LOCOMOTIVE OF WRECKED TRAIN: The engineer and firemen of the New York Central freight which piled up in front of the station here this morning crawled unharmed from the cab of the engine. The force of the impact was so great that rails and cross-ties were ripped from their foundations and rails were thrown 30 feet.

TWO ESCAPE FROM BUILDING: When a New York Central freight piled up at the railroad station this morning two men in the Railway Express office narrowly escaped injury. George Ball, jr. a State Savings bank employee, and Donald Mynning, express companhy clerk, fled the structure when the first rumbling of the pile-up warned them of danger.

RIGHTING WRECKED LOCOMOTIVE: The task of clearing the wreckage of the freight train that piled up at the Michigan Central station yesterday proceeded rapidly today. Here is shown the engine as two cranes pulled it from the ruined rail-bed where it had laid on its side. Some of the thousands who watched the work may be seen lining Broadway viaduct in the background.

ENGINE SWINGS FREE: This photograph was taken just as the huge cranes dragged the wrecked New York Central freight locomotive from the road-bed at the local station this morning. After this operation, the cables were attached to the top and the engine was again on its wheels. This afternoon a 14-year-old boy admitted causing the wreck.

WRECK RAMMED BROADWAY VIADUCT: In spite of the force of the pile-up of the freight train at the Michigan Central station this morning the supports for the bridge stood firm. The cars shown here were immediately behind the engine. Various of the cars contained coal, oil and liquid asphalt.
