More than 2,500 houses were entered in the contest, and the shelters were placed on exhibition at the Michigan Flower show in Detroit this spring. James competed with boys up to 10 years of age. A pair of bluebirds has taken up residence in the house which has been placed high in a blossoming apple tree at the Calhoon home.
