Students and Dundee friends have collected more than $1,700 to help defray the 37-year-old McDonald's hospital and medical bills.

Samuel A. McDonald, 37, of 908 Gott, led the elementary chorus of the Dundee Community Schools yesterday in a special concert for patients of the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor. Nearly crushed to death in an automobile accident on Jan. 31, 1964, McDonald was given more than $1,700 by Dundee school children and citizens who established a Sam McDonald Fund to help pay his medical bills. He was a patient at the Veterans Hospital for nearly eight months before returning last September to his job as music teacher in the Dundee school system.
