A regional intercollegiate flying meet will be held at Ypsilanti airport Saturday and Sunday, with college fliers expected from several states. Host to the meet will be the Michigan Flying Club, several of whose members are pictured above with the club's recently acquired plane. FIRST GIRL STUDENT TO SOLO: Joan B. Hamilton, 20, junior student in the Literary college from Yonkers, Ny Y., is the first of her sex to fly alone after instruction at the Ann Arbor airport under the U.S. Civil Aeronautical Authority. Miss Hamilton was a member of the University Glider club last semester and took up airplane work this term. She also solos in another field: with Bill Gail's dance orchestra. After getting her A. B. degree, she plans to study law.
