The 238-pound Drake is holding his own against a pair of hefty tackle candidates, 220-pound Jerry Green (center) and 206-pound Neal Bossemeyer. Greene is a brother of the Pioneers' former All-State tackle, Floyd Greene.

Kline is new to the Ann Arbor High staff while Drake, an old-timer here, is starting his first year as head coach.
