Coach Don "Dobbie" Drake, with more than 150 men drilling, takes time out to show there is beef in his Ann Arbor High grid camp at Wines Field. The 238-pound Drake is holding his own against a pair of hefty tackle candidates, 220-pound Jerry Green (center) and 206-pound Neal Bossemeyer. Greene is a brother of the Pioneers' former All-State tackle, Floyd Greene.

PIONEERS' 1946 GRIDIRON DESTINY RESTS IN THEIR HANDS: Much of the planning for Ann Arbor High school's 1946 gridiron schedule rests in the capable hands of the above trio, left to right, Backfield Coach Frank "Chuck" Kline, Capt. and Tailback Don Schneider and Head Coach Don "Dobbie" Drake. Kline is new to the Ann Arbor High staff while Drake, an old-timer here, is starting his first year as head coach. The Pioneers will meet Flint Central at Flint in the opener for both schools tonight.
