A unique house-moving operation was performed this morning, when these two structures, formerly a single residence, were moved from the site of the Veterans Administration Hospital at Fuller Rd. and Glacier Way to adjacent lots on Fuller Rd. and Cedar Bend Dr. a quarter mile towards Ann Arbor. Co-owners of the home are Vernon Hedin and Pat Gossett, who said the separate houses will be offered for sale when relocated and redecorated.

House-moving has become fairly commonplace in Ann Arbor, with residences transferred to make way for new buildings, but seldom are the houses routed through business districts. This one, moved to make way for a parking lot for the Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Fourth Ave., was photographed at a busy campus area intersection, S. State St. and N. University Ave. It was being moved to 259 Crest Ave. Strangely, the house was first transported east, on a selected route, although its destination was on the west side of the city. The route was Liberty to State St., then to Rose St., White St., Stadium Blvd., W. Liberty St. and finally to Crest.

HOUSE ROLLS DOWN STATE ST.: Throngs of University students halted on their way to classes early this morning to watch a crew of house-movers maneuver a two-story frame dwelling past the State St. - S. University Ave. intersection. A workman on the roof is shown raising a traffic signal light to permit passage underneath. The house, owned by two veterans, was moved from 310 W. Huron St. to a new location at S. State and Henry Sts. (Story on page 3)
