WINTER'S FIRST SNOW BLANKETS CITY: Ann Arbor awoke this morning to find King Winter had made his first snowy rounds of the season. The event brought joy to the hearts of the younger generation but produced the usual driving and walking dangers. Snow continued falling during the morning, and the U. S. Weather Bureau said it would continue tonight and tomorrow.

Tommy French Shovels Snow At 2503 Brockman Blvd, November 1947 Photographer: Eck Stanger

Ann Arbor News, November 24, 1947

SNOW REMOVAL - SMALL FRY STYLE: While most youngsters found this morning's damp, clinging snowfall ideal for play purposes, young Tommy French took on the familiar winter chore of sidewalk shoveling. The long-handled ice remover he's using may not be the best tool for the job, but Tommy is having a lot of fun anyway. He is the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. French, of 2503 Brockman Blvd. (Other pictures on page 24.)

South Thayer Street Flooded By Rain, June 1954

Published In:
Ann Arbor News, June 18, 1954
Caption:
RAIN AND MORE RAIN: For the third straight day the skies opened over Ann Arbor yesterday afternoon and a torrential rain fell. The fall of 1.47 inches in a comparatively brief time flooded streets and many basements. The youth perched on a car hood is riding there so he can leap to high ground. That spare pair of shoes could come in handy if he misses. S. Thayer St., where the picture was taken, was flooded almost to the top of the curb.
