LOVELY LAKE RESORTS ALONG THE HURON: These cottages at Strawberry Lake, one of the numerous attractive bodies of water formed by the widenings of the river, are typical of the summer outing settlements that dot the valley of the stream from its sources among the lakes of Oakland county to its outlet in the Detroit river at the head of Lake Erie. This picture is one of a series showing the possibilities of the Huron-Clinton Valleys as a recreational area serving all southeastern Michigan.

TODDLER BATHES IN HAPPY SAFETY: At Strawberry lake, one of the lakes in the Huron River system, this little lass splashes about in the shallow shore-bottom, which is so characteristic of most of the lakes in the Huron Valley. Wholesome sun and water-bathing are important for health, and the greater cultivation of Huron river facilities, the construction of wading pools, the cleaning up of the lower reaches of the river, and the building of roads leading to potential recreation spots would make bathing available to more of Southern Michigan's children. Joined to a similarly developed Clinton Valley, the Huron would become a nearly perfect playland.
