TAKE OATH OF OFFICE: Four City Councilmen were sworn into office last night by City Clerk Fred J. Looker, (right). The four, winners in the April 2 election will serve two-year terms. They are (from the left), Mrs. Eunice L. Burns, First Ward; John Dowson, Second; Robert E. Meader, Third; and Wendell E. Hulcher, Fourth Ward. John R. Laird, Fifth Ward Republican, also won re-election but was absent from last night's meeting.

Creal later noted this humorously and commented to a large audience at a ceremony in the City Countil room that if it made any difference, he would take the oath of office again later -- right hand in the air. Army Takes Over Polling Place: The U.S. Army and Air Force officially take over the Sixth Ward polling place on Forest Ave. as their new recruiting station in Ann Arbor. City Clerk Fred J. Looker (in doorway) has presented the keys to the building to Col. R. M. Lawson (right), who has charge of recruiting in Michigan. The recruiters will vacate the polling place on election days by terms of a rent-free agreement with the city. The recruiting station was previously in the Armory.
