Clark E. Ferguson After Bear Hunt, November 1939

Year:
1939
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, November 25, 1939
Caption:
ONE OF THE LARGEST BEARS TAKEN THIS YEAR: Clark E. Ferguson of Ann Arbor, chairman of the Washtenaw County Road commission, is shown with the 502-pound black bear he brought back from near Lovells Wednesday. Ferguson shot the huge bear -- taller than a man -- between the eyes as it came toward him, and the first shot dropped the animal. It probably was just as well, because the Ann Arbor man was alone at the time. The bear is one of the largest taken out of the Michigan woods this season.
