STRING SECTION OF CIVIC ORCHESTRA IN REHEARSAL: Members of the string section of Ann Arbor's Civic orchestra put in an intensive hour of rehearsal each week under the direction of Miss Elizabeth Green. After the first hour, the string section joins with other sections of the organization for an hour's work with the full orchestra.

Maddy, director of the Ann Arbor civic orchestra, is pictured here at work rehearsing with a section of the 50-piece musical group in preparation for the fifth annual "Evening of Ballet," scheduled for Jan. 23 and 24 in the High school auditorium. This year the orchestra with its 50 members approaches full symphony instrumentation. Max Aupperle is president, Charles Staubach is concert-master, Margaret Forsythe is secretary-treasurer, and Philip Potts is manager of the group.
