The quiet sound of air escaping from bus tires could have been heard last night in the bus parking lot behind Pioneer High School. Pranksters let the air out of tires on 80 out of the district's 83 school buses forcing students to take a city bus or hitch a ride this morning. Here Ed Sayers, an employee of Robey Tire, checks the pressure after replacing the air in one deflated tire. While there was no vandalism or tire slashing, over 300 tires were emptied and some which were tubeless had to be jacked up before inflating. Buses were back on schedule by noon and all morning field trips went on as planned. There are no suspects in the prank. (Staff photo by Jack Stubbs)
