BUSINESS-INDUSTRIAL MEN VISIT SCHOOLS: Business-Industry-Education day got underway in Ann Arbor Public Schools today with day-long visits of businessmen and manufacturers who toured classrooms. Visiting Angell School, from left, where Joseph H. Buhr, president of Buhr Machine Tool Co.; George P. McCallum, business manager of The Ann Arbor News; Robert L. Johnson of Icerman, Johnson & Hoffman, accounting firm; and Paul C. Wagner, secretary-treasurer of Wagner & Company, Inc. Miss Dorothy Buckley, principal of Angell School, accompanied the four on the tour. BIE day is sponsored jointly by the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce and public schools. It was the first time that business and industrial men toured the schools.

PRINCIPAL FETED: Retiring Angell School Principal Dorothy Buckley (right) receives a lei of carnations from former teacher Mrs. Janet Hirota during a reception in her honor yesterday. The string of hundreds of carnations and another of orchids were flown in from Hawaii for the occasion which drew a steady stream of well-wishers for three hours at the Ann Arbor High School. Miss Buckley also was given a $1,500 check representing contributions of parents, associates, former pupils and friends.

A Valentine's Day exchange is what Ann Arbor League of Women Voters fund drive solicitors, Miss Dorothy T. Buckley (left) and Mrs. Eula V. Avery, had in mind when they visited the office of Eugene B. Power at University Microfilms. In return for a bright red and lacy Valentine, the League members received a fund drive contribution from Mr. Power. Today has been designated "Love Your League Day," and members are picking up their solicitation kits for the League's finance endeavor. Their goal is $5,000. Nearly 400 League members are soliciting.
