Raccoon Eating in Sheriff's Office, May 1948 Photographer: Maiteland Robert La Motte

Year:
1948
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, May 19, 1948
Caption:
This little animal sneaked into the parked car of George E. Ford, 3671 E. Delhi Rd., hid there until Ford started for Ann Arbor in the machine - and then climbed up behind the driver and gave him an affectionate hug, almost scaring him out of his wits. Ford took the 'coon to the sheriff's office. There it accepted a breakfast of cornflakes and milk, but quickly wore out its welcome by snarling at Sheriff John L. Osborn, who promptly wrote out an order placing it in the care of Dr. H. R. Shipman, veterinarian. Though the raccoon, wearing a small dog-collar, is obviously a pet, its owner has not yet been located.
