CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK: Bill Edwards, sr., was formerly a star athlete at Ann Arbor High where he won honors in football, track and baseball. Later he became one of the best golfers at Barton Hills. He also played football at U. of D. Today 14-year-old Bill Edwards jr., his son shown above, is showing considerable aptitude at the game of tennis. He is competing this week in the Ann Arbor News novice tournament. Above young Bill is executing a difficult over-head smash, a difficult shot, played with vigor. He has hit the ball at full reach, has shifted his weight and is showing a good follow through.
