HEAVY-DUTY SCALE TESTING DEVICE READY: For the first time heavy-duty scales in Washtenaw county can be tested for their accuracy as often as the occasion warrants though a new $2,000 apparatus authorized by the board of supervisors. County Sealer George P. Smith (left), and Duane S. Wiltse (right), garage owner who designed the hydraulic hoist for moving the outfit's 1,000-pound testing weights, are shown in front of the special truck. In front of them is the special balance Mr. Smith built to test the weights. Notice the 1,000-pound weight at the left, which is being suspended by the hydraulic hoist.
