You can tell the new Old German restaurant (left), still without a sign, by the fire hydrant built right in the facade. [This photo] Owner Bud Metzger (at right above) is taking no chances with his restaurant, gutted by fire in 1975. Son Mark Metzger (center) helped with the restoration, and long-time bartender Bernie Donahue (left) is back serving drinks.
