BIRTHPLACE OF ONE MILLION CHICKS A YEAR: In this storage-like room at the Klager Hatcheries in Bridgewater 1,000,000 chicks are hatched yearly to start lives that will end exactly 77 days later. At all times there are 52,000 eggs stored in the compartments of this vault in various stages of incubation. Temperature is constant at 99 degrees and humidity at 89. At the rear is Luther C. Klager, owner, and, in front, Helen Welch, employe.
