Dewey Hill Sand Dune - Grand Haven, Summer 1939
Year:
1939
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, July 22, 1939
Caption:
WHEN GALES RAGE THIS DUNE PROTECTS: Dewey Hill stands at the end of Grand Haven's main street, serving as a buffer against the rush of western winds. The sands of the great dune are still active, as may be judged by the bareness of the crest shown above the roofs of the dock building at the right. Grand river is shown flowing along the eastern base of the dune, which constantly threatens to engulf it. A fishing village nestles in the lee of the dune.
