An infielder doesn't always get a second chance when he bobbles a grounder but it happened for Gwinn second baseman John Erickson in the State Class B Softball Tournament game with Ludington. Erickson bobbles the ball (top photo) but recovers in time (bottom photo) to throw the ball to shortstop Jerry Miller for a force out of Vic Burwell who is just about to start his slide. Ludington plays again today.

Bob Thomas of Ludington is out by a step trying to beat out a grounder to the shortstop in the State Class B Softball Tournament at Veterans Park. Gwinn first baseman Charley Erickson clutches the ball. Ludington, however, was an easy winner, 9-2.
