Standing on a coke pile, firemen fought a blaze which yesterday afternoon destroyed a 200-foot section of the American Boiler & Foundry Co. plant in Milan. Fire trucks from five communities and two institutions answered the alarm. Explosion of a heating device, used in the welding room, started the fire. No estimate was given as to the total amount of damages.

BLAZE KILLS 125 PRIME EGG-LAYERS: Laying hens - 125 of them, valued at $375 - were destroyed this morning when flames leveled a large chickenhouse on the Kingsley farm, three and a half miles south of South Lyon on the Dixboro Rd. Prompt action by South Lyon firemen saved adjacent buildings from the wind-fanned blaze. Origin of the fire was not determined, but defective wiring was thought to have been a possible cause.

Gerald Hamlin, of 8963 Joy Rd., stands silhouetted by the glow of the raging fire that destroyed two barns and their contents on the farm of a neighbor, Arthur Zeeb, on Earhart Rd. near Pontiac Rd., last night. Cause of the blaze was not determined.
