DIGGING TRENCHES TO CONTROL NORTHFIELD MUCK FIRE: A fire that has been burning both above and below ground for several days on the John Olson farm east of Horseshoe lake in Northfield township was restricted somewhat in the damage it caused by the digging of trenches. Wielding the shovels, from left to right, are: Rodric Olson, brother of the owner of the farm; Ernest Allen, neighboring farm boy; and Sanford Mayberry, a neighboring farmer.
