"THEY'D RUN A MILE FOR A PIG: And what's more, they did. De Witt Willis (left), takes over the chase as Clifford Colbert (right), catches his breath, having failed to catch the galloping grunter for the umpteenth time. The pig escaped from his pen at the Home Packing Co., 227 Summit St. yesterday. The above picture was taken at Liberty and Division Sts., more than a mile from the packing company, just before the animal was caught between two garages."

A long-time Ann Arbor landmark since about 1905, the Doric Apartments at E. Liberty and S. Division are in the process of being demolished to provide more room for Handicraft Furniture. Built for about $9,500 the building was constructed with imported bricks, insulated floors and inlaid wood construction. Harold Lepard of Handicraft said when the three-story addition is finished, it will more than double the present space of the retail furniture store. The building to the rear on S. Division will also be razed to make room for the addition.
