Pig Bowl Trophy Recovered - Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey (right) receives the milk can trophy for the annual "Pig Bowl" football game from Deputy Police Chief Harold Olson at city police headquarters yesterday. The trophy, which goes to the winner of the annual charity game, was in the possession of the Sheriff's Department on the merits of last year's victory but Wednesday noon at a planning luncheon for the game it mysteriously vanished. It turned up in the Police Department's property locker and the sheriff recovered it after presenting a "writ of attachment" issued by Ypsilanti District Court Judge Edward D. Deake to Olson. The game this year will be played Nov. 7 at Eastern Michigan University.

'Goats' Ready For Bowl Game - The second annual "Pig Bowl" football game will get under way at 7 p.m. Sunday on Hollway Field. The contest, matching the Ann Arbor Police Department "Goats" and the Sheriff's Department "Pigs," is designed to raise funds for Christmas gifts for needy children throughout the county. Both teams have been practicing for a month. The four captains for the "Goats" paused yesterday with the game's trophy, a decorated milk can, to permit News Photographer Cicil Lockard to snap a picture. Left to right are Patrolman Richard DeGrand, Patrolman Charles Ketchum, Sgt. Dan Cullin and Detective Sgt. Norman Olmstead. The trophy was purloined early today by the "Pigs."
