They Understand: Warren H. Scofield of 244 Crest Ave., and his six-year-old son, Johnny Joe, know what the March of Dimes means. Both were stricken with polio in 1954, and both were confined to iron lungs. They are shown here with money and tickets to the dinner for polio to be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Home. The affair has been designated the Scofield Dinner.

Mothers' March: The above scene, illustrated by a display in the Behnke Furniture Co. window, will be repeated many times tonight as county mothers seek March of Dimes donations. Also, Saturday, local Boy Scouts will be stationed in front of this and several other displays to take donations. Boy Scouts have collected approximately $300 on three previous Saturdays of January.

Ex-Polio Patient Wants To Help: Theresa Holzapfel, 4 1/2, puts a dime in the Fraternal Order of Eagles' slotted poster for March of Dimes donations. Theresa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Holzapfel, 2115 Jackson Ave., had a slight attack of non-paralytic polio in October, so she knows what the money's for. Watching her is Floyd D. Richards, an Eagles trustee. To date, $103.30 has been collected by the Eagles aerie and auxiliary in addition to the canister Theresa holds.

Finkbeiner of 2303 Walters Dr., shows playmate David Bauer, 5, what she is doing toward saving for the current March of Dimes drive. David, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bauer of 65 Westover St., Scio township, was stricken by the disease in September. The young victim, who wears hand braces, a corset and special shoes and has a special reclining chair because he can't sit up or walk, is a University Hospital patient. Formerly an iron lung patient, he now is permitted to go home for weekends.
