State Representative Gary Owen Roasted And Toasted, March 1978 Photographer: Larry E. Wright
Year:
1978
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, March 3, 1978
Caption:
Rep. Gary Owen, D-Ypsilanti, was branded a hillbilly and chided for his funny souther accent. He was the butt of lots of their jibes, too. But it was all in fun, and he wound up being given the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce annual Distinguished service Award. The roasting and toasting took place at the chamber's 58th annual meeting at the Eastern Michigan University Hoyt Conference Center Thursday night.
