Parades Are For Children: Thousands of children, of all ages, lined the 1.2-mile route of Ypsilanti's parade yesterday while hundreds more took part in the silver anniversary march sponsored by American Legion Post 282. This float carried virtually the entire membership of Cub Scout Pack No. 89, of Ypsilanti's Brown Chapel AME Church. It was one of seven Scout units in the traditional Fourth of July parade. This float was decorated with various Cub emblems.

Floats Feature Ypsilanti Parade: The Ypsilanti Knights of Columbus entered this float in the 25th annual Independence Day parade yesterday in Ypsilanti. The traditional affair was viewed by the largest crowd in the history of the event, Ypsilanti officials said. This K of C entry, the most elaborate in the parade, featured three youngsters sitting among floral arrangements on the decorated float. The hour-long parade was composed of more than 50 units.
