A LEGO Brickumentary

by manz

Every year, about 19 billion LEGO bricks are produced, and more than 400 million people around the world have played with LEGO bricks.

A LEGO Brickumentary is a playful documentary narrated by Jason Bateman (as a minifig, of course) that digs into all things LEGO. Those little bricks have come along way since their inception and after last year's successful LEGO Movie LEGO topped Mattel and is now the biggest toy company in the world, and they make only ONE thing. Pretty amazing.

The documentary talks about the impact that LEGO has had on generations, and not just in play form. Everything from master builders creating life-sized models, a giant X-Wing fighter built to scale, adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs), art exhibits by Nathan Sawaya, applications in architecture, and a community of LEGO Ideas (formerly known as Cuuso) where the public shows interest in what they’d like make into LEGO sets. It’s a really well done documentary, appropriate for both children and adults, that was a blast to watch.

Speaking of LEGO, has anyone been to the all new LEGO Discovery Center in Auburn Hills yet? It just opened last week!

Keep an eye on the AADL LEGO page for upcoming programs and events with LEGO bricks!
