OLD LANDMARK DISAPPEARING: This was the demolition scene yesterday at the University's old Music School at 325 Maynard. The building was sold to Stepar Investments, Inc., of Ann Arbor, which ordered the 71-year-old structure razed. Stepar has not announced what it plans to build on the site and any adjacent property it might acquire.

Workers on the job and on-lookers, after learning the history of the building, said they could clearly detect an odor of horses. No announcement has been made on the future use of the site.

In the wake of a court order to demolish the Town House Hotel, a contractor finished a process which started when the northeast corner of the three-story vacated building collapsed on June 13. At that time debris from the hotel, which was built in 1845, fell on a house but no one was hurt. The structure had been condemned and vacated since Aug. 7, 1970.
