KIWANIANS STAGE CIRCUS: Ypsilanti Kiwanians this week are staging their 21st annual circus in the Ypsilanti High School gymnasium. Performances will be given at 7:30 p.m. today and tmorrow. A circus wouldn't be a circus without children, and last night was no exception. Above, Susan Sienko (left), 5, is amused by Kiwanian clown, Greg Russell. Her three-year-old sister, Mary Jane, however, didn't even take time out from her bottle of pop to watch. At left, three of the Kiwanis clowns, Fred H. KIWANIS SALE OPENS: Ypsilanti Kiwanians opened their annual three-day rummage sale shortly after 8 a.m. today. Items ranging from clothing to furniture, implements and foodstuffs were being offered. Proceeds from the sale will go into the Kiwanis fund for work with underprivileged children. Evertt C. (Eddie) Edwards is chairman of the sale, which will be open until 8 p.m. today, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow and from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Last year's sale netted the Kiwanians some $1,800.

NEW TRAFFIC SIGN ERECTED: The Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club, in co-operation with the citizen Safety-Traffic Committee, has given the city this traffic safety sign, which has been erected at the point intersection of W. Michigan Ave. and Congress St. behind an historical stone marker. When complete, the sign will record traffic accidents and fatalities during the year, and have an arrow pointing to the new Ypsilanti Police Department directly across W. Michigan.

COMMUNITY WORK BEE AT NEW YPSILANTI PARK: Ypsilanti Kiwanians, aided by volunteer workers and members of American Legion Post 408, spent all day Saturday at the new Park Ridge park, installing swings and other playground equipment, mowing grass on the 12-acre site and setting posts (above) for an elaborate circle drive and parking area. It was the fifth such work bee since Kiwanians undertook development of the southside area last year. Here, Andrew F. KIWANIANS PRESENT AUDIOMETER TO RACKHAM SCHOOL: A new audiometer was given to the Rackham School of Special Education in Ypsilanti yesterday by the Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club. The equipment, which replaces an obsolete model, will be used to checkhearing of Rackham pupils and to aid hard-of-hearing children in other Ypsilanti schools. Future teacers enrolled at Michigan State Normal College will also be trained in useof the audiometer. Here, Marilyn Weeks, instructor in the Rackham primary deaf department, demonstrates the audiometer with four-year-old Linda Bruce. QUIRK GARDENS BEING CLEANED UP: Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club members yesterday launched a three-day work bee to restore former large landscaped gardens at the rear of the city's Quirk Home building (top rear), where Municipal Court and other city offices will be located early next month. The garden area, below the large house which the city recently purchased, is fenced and on the same level as the adjoining Riverside Park. Kiwanians working at the site yesterday included (left to right) Samuel W. Walthour, the Rev. William R. Shaw and William C. Durant.
