OPEN HOUSES SCHEDULED: Two of the city's new elementary schools, T. C. Abbot (top picture) and Lakewood (bottom), will hold open houses from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Abbot School, whose dedication is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday in the school gymnasium, will also open its doors from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Workmen make repairs to the damaged ceiling at Lakewood School caused by a fire April 18. Work began Thursday and is to be completed within six to eight weeks. The cost of the repairs must await appraisals as the work progresses. Estimates made at the time of the fire placed the damage at more than $20,000.

Four Lakewood Elementary School students display the science projects they constructed to demonstrate various aspects of electricity and magnetism. The projects were the culmination of a science unit which featured the study of electricity. All fifth and sixth-graders were given "science fair" projects, either individually or in groups.
