Four Lakewood Elementary School students display the science projects they constructed to demonstrate various aspects of electricity and magnetism. The projects were the culmination of a science unit which featured the study of electricity. All fifth and sixth-graders were given "science fair" projects, either individually or in groups. The students above are (rear, from left) Bob Kalmbach and Roger Lajeunesse and (front, from left) Larry Cole and Richard Tripp.

ALLEN SCHOOL STAFF: Here is the regular staff of the new John Allen School which will open for classes next Tuesday. The school, located at Buhr Park on the city's southeast side, is one of two new elementaries to open for the second semester. The other is Lakewood on the city's western edge. The staff members are (men, left to right) LeRoy Cappaert, principal; Harwood Roland, custodian; David Aberdeen, sixth grade; and (women, left to right) Rose Wilson, first grade; Frances Winkelhaus, second grade; Chris Kramer, fourth grade; Peggy Meyers, secretary; Lenice Kipp, kindergarten; Florence Breitner, third grade; Blanche Shankland, second grade; and Marion Krausse, first grade. A recently hired fifth grade teacher, Mary Purcell, was not present for the picture.
