He’s worked in public service for years, served on Ann Arbor City Council, and earned a Juris Doctor degree in law in 2000. Larry recalls how he became politically active as a young man, organizing walkouts at his high school as a leader in the Black Student Union, as well as his involvement with the Black Panthers.

The northeast corner of the vacated Town House Hotel, which was built in 1845, collapsed last night shortly before 9 p.m. Debris fell on a house next to the hotel at 301 E. Ann but no one was hurt. Police barricaded one lane of Fifth Ave. and sidewalks on both the Ann and Fifth Ave. sides. The building had been condemned and vacated since Aug. 7, 1970. The city is seeking a court order to demolish it. (Story on Page 3)
